While a low-calorie ice-cream is a bit silly, it's a good-tasting ice-cream that you'll return to.
Part of Ben & Jerry’s range of Moo-phoria ice-cream, the PB Dough claims to have just 160 calories per 115ml serving. Obviously, it’s adorable that they are suggesting that I’m not destroying an entire pint in the one sitting.
Using a light ice-cream, it has 45% less fat than standard ice-cream. Now, a low(er) calorie count, plus less fat are positive things, but how does this taste? It is intended to serve as B&J’s equivalent to the low calorie Halo Top ice-cream. That tastes almost passable, but I’ve never really had a great experience with the taste of that.
This PB Dough… it’s pretty tasty.
The chocolate ice-cream tastes a lot richer than I had initially expected, with the peanut butter cookie dough breaking up the excessive chocolate taste nicely.
If you’re really concerned about your calorie intake, frankly, maybe consider forgoing the ice-cream. But, if you are hankering for ice-cream, at least this is there as an option.
Right now at the supermarkets, the only other B&J flavour that I’ve been enjoying has been the Tonight Dough, so this has made for a welcome alternative. Especially now that major supermarkets are stocking it – for the last few months it was only found on the shelves of convenience store freezers.
