Walking through my local Coles this morning, being the lover of all things porcine related, my eyes were instantly drawn to Smith’s Limited Edition Crispy Bacon chips. And for the bargain price of under $2 I couldn’t not walk away with a packet.
The back of the bag announces “There’s nothing like enjoying a cricket game with your mates and kicking back with Smith’s Crispy Bacon Chips!” but after inhaling almost an entire bag in one sitting, I’m left feeling very under whelmed. While Smiths continue to manufacture what may be Australia’s finest crisps, the flavour has left me confused. The chips taste like a mix between Chicken Twisties and BBQ Samboys. There’s no distinguishable bacon flavour at all.
While I have no doubt everyone will love the chips, grabbing a handful of them out of the bowl at your next picnic or backyard BBQ, nobody will rush back to the shops to buy them because of their unique or distinguishable flavour because, well, they don’t have one.
