Perfect for a late night biscuit booty call when you have lower expectations, but a need to be met.
Before reviewing any Tim Tam variant, I think it is important to get my initial bias out of the way. I like Tim Tams. I’m not wild about them. I used to LOVE the original Tim Tam, but when they brought out the Caramel Tim Tam, my relationship with the biscuit changed.
Baby, it’s not you. It’s me.
I have caramel fever. And I honestly think it started with that Tim Tam. I’ve never really enjoyed a regular Tim Tam the same way again. But, I’ll also be honest and say that I don’t always enjoy every new type of caramel Tim Tam either.
Which brings us to the new Tim Tam Slams – Choc Malt & Sticky Caramel. These are made to be dunked in your coffee for a snack, but I didn’t really feel like slamming them into the coffee did much to improve the Tim Tam. But, how does it stand by itself?
It’s fine. Probably in the upper 30% of Tim Tam varieties. The choc malt flavoured biscuit is actually quite strong and nicely complements the sticky caramel – it’s a little bit like if there was a caramel center in a Malteaser.
I would be surprised if this ever became someone’s favourite biscuit, but it really isn’t bad and I can imagine myself picking up the occasional packet while they are still on shelves.
